Miss-leading Plugin Pages?

I've noticed that a number of plugins have two pages on the opencpn site - is this correct? When I google search I find this one (for example):

https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/plugins/launcher.html

But I think this is really the correct one (unless 5.x isn't being published yet..):

https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/snigulp/launcher.html

O5 is not released yet. It is in beta testing.

Re: Miss-leading Plugin Pages?

Geoffr, you are probably right one of those is not used. It looks like thr page was created by mis-typing. They look the same at first glance. I will check it and remove the un used page.

Rick ...

'snigulp' is for the ov50 plugins, 'plugins' is for the 4.8 plugins.

Re: Miss-leading Plugin Pages?

Geoffr,
You are unfortunately having the same issues we did when trying to add in the plugins. Depending how you downloaded OCPN, using the PPA may not work to download the plugins. Then you would need to do each plugin from source, but even then they may have errors and they didn't always load properly.
Based on our experience, do yourself a favor, clean your card or use a fresh one and just download OPlotter. Then you'll be done and any updates w/be easier to load also.

Mike,

Well, I am pretty confused about this. Where is this used exactly? ov50 Plugins, which ones please? -are they that different from ov40?

I did a search on snigulp and don't get anything. is is a directory?

Go to this page https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/info/beta.html and click the link called "Beta Test Tool for Plugins. " Check the links for the plugins. The links with the reversed spelling "snigulp" are all there.
Obviously this is a work in progress until O5 is released and it all can be sorted.

Re: Miss-leading Plugin Pages?

All....
Just to be super clear, and as has been announced before:

The only supported source of plugins for O5 Beta testing is here:

https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/atp/48fb3bOH/5plugs.html

Any other plugins might or might not run on O5 Beta, and might or might not eat your computer.

As a convenience, and in preparation for O5 Release, the legacy plugins available for OCPN 4.x are also available there. So make a bookmark, and stay focused, please.

Thanks
Dave
