Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hi Rik-Lu,

I have been trying several times to get in touch with Konni and did not receive any response.

Did test this new version ? any bugs ?

Do you want to be leader for it ?

Serge

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

After a new installation I remarked the wrong links for the Logbook.
Thats why I wanted to help others to find the last version from october 2012.

2 years ago I had contact by mail with Konni with a question about logbook and also asked where was sailing.

He wrote me that was not sailing anymore since years after he suffered a stroke.
That explains his last post he wrote with the last 3 fingers he could move.

I am sorry that I am not able programming, would be great to have nmea connection to the logbook for inserting position, speed etc. at fixed intervalls to the logbook.

Is there anybody who would like to continue this or is there another logbook for opencpn ?

Rick, yes, Konni did a great job and I was sorry to hear he could not continue to improve his logbook.

You can turn on and off automatic line entries.
On the bottom of the logbook there are 5 radius buttons: Timer, Watch, Waypoint, Distance or Course.
You can set the timer intervals or the distance intervals etc.
Once you enable them, they turn green.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Due to a lot of work i had not time to come on the forum. The last logbook Konni had developed was the 1.1957 version.

In this last version you have this functionnalities :
Logbook can log this nmea0183 sentences if you activate them in the setup plugin :

WIMDA : To log Temperature, Pressure and humidity from a sensors
ERRPM : To log when engine is start or not and optional if you want to calculate the time of use

in this version I saw some bug (some data was not saved in tab maintenance)
In the attachment file you can find the latest logbookkonni

(Sorry but attachment doesn't work or I don't know how to use it !)

There are that strange (size) restrictions bound to the type of file (explained in the pop-up for uploads of the forum). Rename your attachment to .doc or .pdf (after compressing if necessary).
The only other work-around is to provide an external download site.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Hi Guys, in attachment the latest plugin of logbookkonni.

I worked with Konni (not on the devlopment) to add some functionalities

Log WIMDA and ERRPM nmea0183.

This logbook is very useful. If someone want to debug it and continue the development it will be very a good news.

Compress with zip it's not possible. The result is upper than the quota authorise (400ko)
Attached Files
File Type: doc logbookkonni_pi.rar.doc (341.6 KB, 85 views)

Put out the ".doc".

Normally, use 7 zip sofware and extract the content.

But here, it seem that there is a problem with the rar file. It is impossible to open the file with 7Zip.

Your rar archive is either corrupted or produced with an outdated program. Try again with zip and add the extension .pdf instead of .doc. This will allow a larger file.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

I too have once worked together with Konni to make a running version for Mac OS X of the Logbook. It runs great with Mac OS X Mavericks and wxWidgets 3.1. If there is anyone for Windows and/or Linux we can exchange our knowledge for further development.

It will be great news if this logbook shall continue to be developped. I asked to konni to add sentence $WIMDA and $ERPRM to log activities detected from a sensors controled by Arduino

I'm ok to merge your exchanges. I don't know Mac OX. I'm working only on Windows. If someone else have any experience with Linux with this plugin....

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

Found this note about Dead Reckoning.... Logbook records position and time., but Opencpn also has "Routes > Tracks"
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...cpn-82864.html

I think we should be using this thread for
Logbook Konni
Findit Konni

unless there is another that is more comprehensive.

Re: Logbook Konni for OpenCPN

I am using this plugin on Linux. I have noticed several bugs:
* Time zone calculations are not always correct, the logbook often logs the incorrect time / time zone.
* Log book often loses entries when OpenCPN is shut down. Work around is to switch to a different logbook and then switch back.
* Date is logged in USA MM/DD/YYYY format regardless of the setting of the user.

I am sailing in the South Pacific at the moment, and I don't have enough access to broadband internet to be able to help with development. In November of this year I will be in SE Asia and will have better access. I will try to assist with development then.

Is the latest version of the logbook source currently in github? I saw a version there with source code but I don't know if it is the latest version.
