Need an EPIRB, need to have it in my hands before Fri the 4th, would like a GPS enabled probably Cat II.
Best unit and best price?
Prefer to buy form a forum sponsor if possible if one can get it to me before Fri and at a good price. I know a lot to ask for sorry. Any sponsors out there listening on a Sunday?

FWIW:
Here in Oz, it is sort of instantaneous, log on to the AMSA website, pop in the details and press enter. Now it's registered. While it takes some time for the sticker to be posted, you get an email right away that normally satisfies most authorities.

Only times I have ever registered 406 devices, it has been for a PLB or an aircraft ELT.
Both registrations have been instantaneous, web based forms.
They do send you a sticker to put on the device and it has to be re-registered every so often. Are boat EPIRB's different than aircraft ELT's? I thought they were the same.
I knew about Satphone rentals, I used to do that on aircraft deliveries, didn't know about EPIRB rentals. How do they know what they are looking for, call the rental place?

You know better, but we do leave at 0 dark thirty Sat morning the 5th, ready or not, assuming no water spouts, early season Hurricane etc. I know a schedule is to be avoided, unfortunately my wife and I both have to be back at work a week later.
Only mechanical thing that needs doing (that I know of, I'm loosing sleep trying to think of things that I haven't thought about.) is a leaking stuffing box, normally I'd just tighten the nut, but this thing is difficult to get to, looking for a mechanic to do that this week, while I'm up here at work.
Of course the concern is, what do I need, that I don't even know about yet?

You'll be alright man... Time for the deep breath! I wouldn't worry much about anything but conditions and have your options prefiggered out... (I ain't looked yet)... Definitely slow down on the unknown worry... You'll kill yourself...

How bad is the box? Honestly... If it looks like your shaft log/clamps/unions look pretty good... and you don't have a giant lump of green instead of a box/gland... You're probably OK to go??? Big difference in flow powering and not??? Even 30 drips/min is usually manageable... Caveat is that I haven't seen your setup... I might make a different choice...

To me, it's excessively corroded, but I'm sort of anal about corrosion.
I'm absolutely sure it's structurally sound, shaft runs true without any detectable wobble or vibration. Leak at anchor is about what it should be running, or about two drops per min. When running, it essentially is a steady leak.
I'm used to power boats with twin engines and engine rooms that you could essentially sit on the shaft and had all kinds of room to swing a wrench.
This thing is pretty deep in the V of the hull, honestly I think about the best way to deal with it would be with a long punch and a hammer.
I don't think it will sink the boat of course, just hate dumping all that water in the bilge, plus leaving with a known problem is just against my nature.

I'm sure a lot will agree, but if your shaft looks good and you have a decent bilge pump, leave the thing alone until you get it home. Deal with it when you have time. You could open up a can of worms.
Just have some rags handy to stuff in around it while sailing if it becomes a leaker. The water pressure at the stuffing box in minimal.

I registered my PLB in the US online last spring. The sticker took a while to arrive, but I had a printout of the registration right away.

Normally I would agree, but this is I think about an 850 NM trip, and since it will start in the Intercoastal and I have a schedule I have to meet, I'm betting on we will be running the engine a LOT, so if possible I want it fixed before I go.
