Re: Got a plastic classic?

Well, look what's for sale in our own classifieds... a 1957 Bounty II! One boat that pretty much defines "plastic classic." Wish I lived in Maine

Re: Got a plastic classic?

Where is the group? I have a 1969 Columbia 36 that I want to step the mast for some wiring work but its not evident from looking how to do that. Any advise?

There are also several videos on YouTube on how to do this.

Yeah if you go up to the green bar above and see the pull-down menu “community” you should see the tab in there for”social groups”
Also there is an active yahoo group for Columbia owners

Re: Got a plastic classic?

Ok so I was looking through these old links again about a COMPLETE refit of a Pearson Rhodes 41 in utter amazement, and admittedly with some envy, and just in case any of you missed them, they are worth a look! It's the first post in this thread:

Re: Got a plastic classic?

Im planning a refit on my Carbineer would like to add a bow sprit & cutter rig with electric furling. My main & mizzen are in mast hydraulic furling. I would like a new teak deck , repaint my masts & re rig . Repaint my hull white with a blue stripe & gold edgeing add a nice carved figurehead under the bow sprit & a curved & carved name plate on the stern . New varnish inside & out , re chrome my port hole windows & dorades, add a new generator, build a stainless shoe for the keel , all I need now is to win the lottery & I can get started😉. I thought I would just go back to work but im 60 in a couple of weeks & I didnt realize that no one wants to employ people my age these days .

Re: Got a plastic classic?

I've just pulled the original, manual bronze windlass of my 1964 Van de Stadt Rebel 41, and it's looking for a new home. Don CL suggested I link to the post here.

I just joined the forum today. It's great/validating to see so many others that share my affliction for classic plastics! I just wish I had found this thread before I embarked on the (ongoing), laborious refit of my boat!

Here's a couple photos of her during and "after".

Beautiful boat! You are now an honorary member of the Plastic Classics social group! (Now you have to post all your refit photos there too!)

Re: Got a plastic classic?

Hello everyone:
I have been searching for my former boat SILVERHEELS, a Pearson 39 yawl. We parted ways around 11 years ago and we miss her dearly. Just wondering if anyone has seen her?
Thank you
Rick

Re: Got a plastic classic?

This is my 1972 Alberg 30 "Lora". The picture is my brother and I leaving Brunswick, GA heading to Annapolis, MD. We made the trip in 7 days, 6 of them offshore. James Baldwin did the refit. Here are some videos.

Re: Got a plastic classic?

Wish I had the $$ now to do that kind of refit! Maybe Santa will deliver my boat over to Baldwin for a complete make-over!
