Columbia 29, MKI: Mast support beam/arch. Tritons and others of the vintage will probably need them rebuilt eventually.
Ok, so I finally got it put together structurally, finish work still needed to cover up bolt heads with a varnished arch, and some trim, but here are a few shots of what I have got myself into with rebuilding the mast support arch on a '62 Columbia 29 MKI: And, yes, it may be a bit overbuilt, but it will not go soft on me.

At the end of six months of work on a 1981 Pearson 367, here's what's complete:

New stanchions with double lifelines
Radar mast repaired, refinished, and moved to accommodate davits
New Katomarine davits
Repaired autopilot (rudder sensor incorrectly installed)
Replaced gudgeon (discovered it was crystalized, so had no choice)
New portlights from New Found Metals (love them)
Repaired cooling system to eliminate overheating problem
Replaced extremely worn and cracked teak handrails
Repaired teak toerail
Had a weld done to repair a gouge in the stemhead
hooked up running water in the head (Admiral's request)
Hooked up SSB antenna
New bottom paint
Professional rigging spection
Other small stuff

Now work on cosmetics begins in earnest- interior wood, cockpit teak and teak toerail first followed by painting in the Fall (if I can)

Restoration and refit of mast on Cal35 Cruiser. 1974 spruce spreaders were rotten. Replacing with aluminum ones manufactured by Ballenger Spars. Exchanged all wire halyards for stayset lines. Rerouted all lines into mast. Added a staysail shroud. Added spinnaker halyard. Replacd the 1974 standing rigging. Redesigned the out haul moving the rigging into the boom. Added two reef system too boom running all lines to the mast end of the boom with a new #10 winch. Added 2 #17 ST winches to mast. Improving the solo management options. With mast down removed and replaced all lighting and vhf antenna wiring. Added an AIS function. Lowered Radar to accommodate the new stay sail rigging. With the mast and sails back on the boat looking forward to the upcoming opportunity to test these changes.

1978 Cabo Rico Tiburon 36.

This is Hull 36 of 36 before the mold was altered to make the Cabo Rico 38. It is the same as the 38 from the sheerline down. Cabo Rico added 2ft to the transom and made it an aft cockpit.

I'm on month 14 of the refit.

OK who else has a deck-stepped mast? I asked for opinions on my creation and got a great thread out of it. It could be very useful to those with a similar situation. My creation is ok as it turns out, but not optimal, and I'll likely re-build it, but the math and materials info could be very useful.

New to plastic classics. in the process of refitting my 1978 Bristol 35.5 cb that i bought 2.5 yrs ago. Since then have; new mainsail, dodger, bimini, added shore power, new life lines, new vhf, added AIS, new stereo, new interior cushions, replaced all fresh water line with pex, new fresh water pump, 2 new faucets, all new running rigging, new standing rigging, new chartplotter, pulled and inspected chainplates, new raw water pump, new garmin wind instrument package, new gennaker sock, new alternator. still need to replace hatch glassx2, re-finish teak toe rail, re-bed deck hardware, potentially add self-steering wind vane..great boat that is a cruiser at heart, but had her going 4.5-5.5 knots in 5-10knots of wind when flying gennaker last wkend. Season ending soon here in the northeast of the USA unfortunately. thnks, Dave
