Best Handheld Spotlights. What do you Recommend?

I think those cree emitters run about $35 X 8 = $280. Then the billet and machining plus the lithium batteries, don't know what he would sell it for.

Here in the tropics the heat humidity and salt air is hell on switches and contact points. Ive been through lots of lights that fail in this department quite soon. For years now, I have favored MagLite 3 x D cell LED flashlights. Nothing else Ive tried holds up like they do. I have several on the boat and at the house. Not technically a spot, but a good bright light w an adjustable beam.

IMHO, these mega lumen spots are not very practical...lots of blinding back scatter if used from deck level. I have not used anything more than a good flashlight in many years.

i have plug in led flashlights--some actually have aa wide beam and those ar great for on deck lighting things in darkness for cheap. plug into 110, is only problem.

Not hand held, but I use a coast HL7 headlamp with a bright 196 lumen led. Adjustable focus and tilt, plus variable brightness. Keeps the hands free too.

For ultimate resistance to humidity I use dive lights. I have lights that I've owned for years and had as deep as 300' and still work like new. Of course don't have the lumens or burn time of the new LED lights but still working. I found one diving a few weeks ago that must have been underwater for a year. It was completely covered with algae. New batteries and it worked perfectly.

I bought 2, both on separate dates at the local marine chandlery.
I ended up returning them, they were garbage, 1 million candlepower of melted wax.
I'm currently without a spotlight.

RC wireless is the way to go. Easy install. Handheld is never where you need it when you need it, PITA and/or expensive to keep charge/batteries in, etc. These run on ships power, always at max brightness, controls right next to the helm.

We are a live aboard and I buy the cheap ones to Low's as would much rathr have multi/several with in easy access than one expensive one. We have on in the maste stateroom, Stairs going up to the salon, the stairs going up to the pilot house, the pilot house, and the back deck. If one does not work there is another on close by.

go to ace hardware and buy store brand rechargeable spotlight. they work and are not pricey.

1 million in LEDs will get pretty hot.

Ditto on the Headlamp! except mine is a Black Diamond with three LEDs providing narrow and wide beam settings...can't say it's the best cuz I didn't research... Xmas gift, my daughter is well trained!
