I'll report what I see when I get up the mast. It's going to be interesting working way up there, 75 feet above the water. Looks like I should start with cap shrouds and forestay and take it from there.

I was up my mast doing battle with the masthead light when I noticed/ felt a tiny wire snag on one of the upper shrouds. The entire wire strand was not broken just a snag. I was considering getting the rigger out to have a look and probably replace the wire as I really can't afford to do the whole lot. I did have the forestay replaced 2 years ago when I bought the boat to fit a new furler.

I figure I might go the gradual way of replacement too, but take the other advice and do them a pair at a time. It is the only way I will be able to afford it.

Like DH our standing rigging is now 10 years old and was suppplied by the same the same yard. Our complete replacement bill will be slightly less but still £1200 ($1800) or so, plus lift and store if we have to come out of the water so another £400 ($600)

Our forestay is slack and there isn't much room to take this up on the backstay so considering replaceing these this year and leaving the rest for a while.

However how do you change a forestay without taking the mast down or risk it falling down? Rig is twin spreader with a baby stay.

We use. Sailing Services - Rigging, Lifelines, Winches, Furling Systems, Supplies, Ropes or Offshoe Spars. Depends on what we need done.

I you have a broken strand on your cap your done sailing till it's replaced. I would go with the Norseman and do them in pairs. We have rod so are in a different catagory.
