Sorry, it was meant to be a secret! Anyway, out of politeness, everyone always looks forward, so just pretend to look forward and your image will be of a bubbling bow wave, filled and straining sails, happy crew (looking forward!), blue sky with a few puffy clouds, seagulls diving and a dolphin riding the bow wave.....
Is that better now?

Not when I think of what the sea gulls are diving for! It's just funny. I think it would be better to have a net built on the bow. It would give a good view and amusement park ride.

Thank God for that, thought you were sailing with a Greek Crew.

Secret pleasures? Well, chocolate of all types is a pleasure, and keeping it secret is the only way to assure it will be there for the last part of the passage! I try to stock up on chocolate covered espresso beans, and hand them out as treats for the night watch. It is amazing how few it takes to keep the crew alert, or should I say on a caffeine and sugar buzz?

Not a secret, but as mentioned before, a comfy hammock in the foretriangle is a real pleasure in a calm anchorage (see photo on left). Some good reading is a plus (that's a copy of the Economist rolled up at the bottom center of the photo - what did you think it was?)

Re: Secret Pleasures Aboard Your Boat

For me one that comes to mind is being on the boat with a full moon.
THE BIANKA LOG BLOG: WHAT A LITTLE MOONLIGHT CAN DO
I sit there and am reminded of how lucky I am to be on board to see it and feel sorry for those on land who are missing it and watching TV instead.

Re: Secret Pleasures Aboard Your Boat

I'm a newbie, started sailing last June. My secret pleasure this summer was to study in the evening while being rocked gently and then, close my books before dreaming about my futur life as a liveaboard cruiser in the Caribbeans.
