Early morning, anchored in a bay, too foggy to move, cup of coffee, heaven.

"Sailing Naked".....ain't no secret, everyone has done it.

Could you explain that in more detail? I don't understand the concept.

Re: Secret Pleasures Aboard Your Boat

I love the silence... no sounds but what I make. Along with glorious sunsets, moonlight, tracking the stars (thousands of them) and wildlife... just being able to look out and see the world without man-made "improvements" brings a level of contentment and tranquility to my life that simply can't be had in a static house.

And, if the neighborhood changes, I can leave (with all my stuff)

Life's good afloat and I know how fortunate the Skipper and I are to be able to enjoy these times...

It's cold... it's wet... it's stormy...

... you just made a bread dough. You realize that you have only one way to make it rise: go to sleep curled up in a fetus position with the bread dough against your tummy.

You wake up in the morning and see that it's the most perfectly risen dough you could hope for.

A more usual pleasure would be to hold on to the swimming ladder while under way in clear waters while wearing just a mask and snorkel. It's like being pulled through a giant aquarium!

Re: Secret Pleasures Aboard Your Boat

Getting underway in the total dark, heading East on a mill pond sea, with Otto (auto Pilot) handling the steering. Sipping my coffee as dark turns to light, turns to bright orange as the sun climbs out of the sea. Just something about first light on a boat out at sea......

Squinting my eyes and imagining I am away from shore (we sail inland waters). One of these days..

I haven't, but maybe im missing out on something. I guess the trick would be some practice runs first so as not to get important parts caught in a rope jam on the winch. Fairly hard to explain that one to the coast guard when you pan pan in cause your tied up and need assistance.

I haven't either. Maybe we need a head count to see who has/does?

Now, getting tied up while sailing is a different kettle of fish altogether.

Re: Secret Pleasures Aboard Your Boat

this is why it's important to keep your cockpit and deck clean, and free of obstacles.

Re: Secret Pleasures Aboard Your Boat

Lying naked in my hammock, slung under the surfboards , in shade under the solar panels on the aft davits, ac/dc blasting and a cold lime juice and a John Le Carre' novel, watching the surf build as my muscles recover from a 6hr surf session????
