The word lunacy is derived from the lunar phenomena.

There are some that seem to live where the moon is always full.

Being that I own a pet grooming salon, I can tell you that I know when it's a full moon without checking the calendar...etc...all the dogs act nutty and won't stop yapping!

I don't envy you! I have a hard enough time grooming my 2 Cockers, I wouldn't want to do it full time!

Re: Full Moon, the Crazies Are Coming Out

There was a retrospective study of some 200,000 or so deliveries done.

We all know that the moon drives mothers into labor too right?

Wrong!

No correlation!

I also read another study that tried to figure out why humans blame things on the moon. Their take from that is that when something happens and the moon is full it is remembered while all the rest of the month the human does not pin it to something else.

I'll bet that was clear as mud.

I'll look. Maybe Gord will beat me too it.

And then I find this:

--------------------------------------------------

Objective
11 The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of the lunar cycle on the frequency of
12 deliveries.
13
Method

14 This was a time series of 29,385,552 births across 470 lunar cycles that were identified from
15 the French National Institute of Statistics from 1968 to 2005.
16
Results

17 Using nonparametric smoothing techniques to remove patterns,
t-tests validated a significant
18 difference in the number of births on a short window around the full Moon, stress by a
19 significant drop after the first quarter Moon.
20
Conclusion

21 An analysis of 37 years of data demonstrated a small but statistically significant influence of
22 the lunar cycle on deliveries.
---------------------------------------------

Something every day.........................

Definitely not a joke. My wife is a Nurse at our local metropolitan county jail, right in the heart of downtown Seattle. They prepare for full moon shifts days in advance, because arrest rates double around the full moon and the crazies come out of the woodwork. Like serious crazies. There are all sorts of statistics and research that support this.

I will have to agree, as a nurse, it always seems to be crazy chaos around that time. More so than usual, and every stinkin month!!!
