Scam alarm from Member "Donald0"...

Just want to give you guys a little fraud alarm...

Because of the request to the B20/B25 panel, i received this PM from just registered "member" Donald0. see attached photo.

I contacted the email and talked a bit back and forth. Asking the potential seller to send me acctual photos of the unit. Many things didnt line up...

He told me he just made the pictures by himself and the pictures would show the unit to sell...

Well, in reality he just copied photos from the Max Marine website:

https://maxmarineelectronics.com/pro...-164100-30110/

After i confronted him, he did not reply anymore...

Use caution dealing with this email or when getting "a friend wants to sell" PM...

Best reagrds,

John

Donald0 won't be worrying you anymore...

In future, can you ( and all others) please report any suspicious PM by using the report icon found near the top RHS of every PM. This gets our attention much faster than making a regular thread.

We quickly investigate any suspicious member and if needed, take action as required.

Re: Scam alarm from Member "Donald0"...

There are more. I reported a new member last week bumping posts with short, generic posts. That’s a sure sign of a scammer bumping post count to gain some credibility. Just use the report button.

On another forum they hacked a bunch of long term (well trusted) members and sat on it. When they had enough hacked accounts they started replying to WTB and ripped off a lot of money.

Trust but verify. Always get a photo with proof of life, like todays date in the photo.

Thanks! Will do so!

FWIW, there has been a significant increase in the numbers of scammers and spammers appearing on CF over the past 6 months or so - stay vigilant and report ASAP.
