Cheoy Lee Offshore 38 or 41?

I'm looking to take on a project boat; the top contenders are both Cheoy Lee Offshore Richards models; one 38, the other a 41.

Both appear to need the same amount of work. All things being equal, which would you choose?

The 38 will be somewhat cheaper, presumably faster and easier to single hand; are these minor differences or a big deal?

With the 41; I figure if I'm going to go thru with all the time money and hassle to fix all the issues; might as well go big and have a bigger boat for long term cruising. In some sense it seems more motivating since the end product will better and the challenge bigger. Then again; would hate to get one and realize a 38 would be a better fit for 1 or 2 cruisers on limited budget.

How would you compare the sizes in terms of speed, size, comfort, cost etc?

Old thread but I’ve got the same choice with the two to make, did you end up figuring out a decision and have any insight?
Warmest regards

Had a 38 for a time. Great boat for a couple, but the forward cabin would be tight for a teenager. Always thought it served better as a sail locker.
