I installed a compost toilet this year and struggled with the same issue. I then realized that the holding tank vent was no longer needed, so I tapped into that vent. It worked great all year!

We are moving our sailboat from the Great Lakes to Florida and will be needing to leave it half-way from mid November to mid February. So far we have enjoyed New England and Maine this past summer....
