Greetings

Tearing my hair out over this one.

I have a westerbeke 42b with ‘captains panel.’

It has three warning lights, a buzze and a ‘test button.

When I turn the key, the lights should...

Re: Cut mast in half???

I was charged for my LOA which is 38’. It was never a question. Most of the tie ups on the Erie Canal are free and easily accessible.

Other people hitting my mast was not a worry either. Nor did...

Re: Bridge heights in Ft. Myers, FL on Caloosahatchee

The bridges on the river and canals do not always have boards indicating the height.

There is an RR bridge (table lift, not bascule) that is more like 49 feet. It’s horrifying if you are close,...

Re: Cut mast in half???

Second not cutting the mast. I did that trip last year with a 52’ mast on a 38’ boat, so significant overhang either end. Never once had a problem with that.

Very helpful fellows at Oswego...

Hi Nate

I too sailed a Catalina 22 swing keel, pop top for many years as a trailer sailor. Once took it from Islamorada to Key West and back. The boat is still in the hands of my niece who keeps...

Re: HELP. Sailboat Charter from St Vincent to Grenada

You’ll have to check out/in somewhere

Give a thought to Carriocou. Very laid back and some nice sights on shore that you can look up online or ask around when you get there. Customs official...

Re: Thinking of buying a sailboat in Indiantown FL

Indiantown is a place where most of the boats are stored on the hard. The whole place is pretty low key and the staff is very helpful. There is a little continuous community living there and...

Re: Bahamas island hopping anchorage timing

FWIW….. I just made a parallel run from Grand Turk to San Salvador.

Anchored outside of the little harbor. Walked to the airport to clear customs the next morning. Closed because there is not a...

Mona Passage and PR

Hi all

Seeking advice on a passage from USVI to Florida.

Thinking of north coast of PR to Providencales? What degree of concern is the Mona Passage at Christmas time? Good source of last...

Re: Weeping seacock

Those look like they might be “BASIC” brand name seacocks. I had them on my new-to-me 2001 Beneteau (Made in US but I keep finding European components) and I posted about it. They looked fine but...

Re: Are the cuts in the Bahamas really that dangerous?

This is a rock solid piece of advice. It contains exactly what you need to consider.

There is nothing about river rafting that will inform your situation vis-a-vis a catamaran in breakers with a...

Re: Empty Waste Tank on 2000 Beneteau 381

Many thanks

That’s the answer I feared. Was just hoping some other shortcut had been contemplated by the builder

I’ll add that to the haul out list

Cheers!

Hi

Researching this question I came across yours

It seems that the y valve is designed to shift contents of head to either the tank or directly overboard. So that configuration seems to make...

Re: Planning a rout. Fort Myers to Miami

If this is a real request and you really have zero experience you probably ought to consider the Okechobee Waterway from Ft Myers to Stuart and then th ICW to Miami.

Negative, I guess.

It’s where the black wire had been connected from the compressor to the boat electrical system. (A fan was also tied in) I guess they thought putting heat shrink would protect...

Re: Advise on my route through Bahamas.

Hi

Overall route depends on you. Abacos will not disappoint.

I don’t think you’ll make it into Crown Haven. It’s only a couple of feet deep. The ferry gets in there but google an image….it’s...

I went to fiddle with the main engine...
