Re: Saying goodbye to my best friend...
We just had Pugsly put down, our 14 year old Jack Russel due to cancer. Not the first dog I've lost but you never get used to it. We have three more that aren't far behind in age and am not looking forward to having to do it all over again.

Sorry for your loss. I had to have Tawny euthanized last Aug. and you are right about it being an awfully hard thing to do.

Re: Saying goodbye to my best friend...
Saying goodbye to your pet is one of the hardest things in life. That's how I feel, anyway.
God bless. It's nice to know your beloved pet was well cared for and lived a complete life. They leave us too soon.

Re: Saying goodbye to my best friend...
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Re: Saying goodbye to my best friend...
Damn pets, they give you so much, in fact all that they have, and they take a hell of a lot with them when they go. Know your pain, been there.
Coops.

A tear is in my eye right now thinking about my best friend after reading your post. Lost 1.5 years ago. I am truly sorry for your loss. They are the best friend around!

Your thread sucks for any of us with a heart.
We just adopted a Maltese. Such a joy. I am already bracing myself for the day he gets hit, or lost, or sick. It is so easy to love these bundles of joy. Sorry again.
I live at work, my business. My wife lives at our home. (perfect arrangement, everyone should try it). Our toy Maltese stays with me sometimes, sometimes he goes home with my wife. On the nights he goes home, I miss him so much. I unwind in a whirlpool tub and soak. He climbs up on the tub and walks out on to my chest. He does not really like baths, but he trusts me not to get him wet.
