A long time ago, in Tahiti, when we still had plenty Ron Bacardi gold, we drank 'Rumplemousse", a shot of rum, mixed in a tall glass, with pomplemousse concentrate, appropriately diluted. Ice optional.

One toast I like is "To absent friends, and loved ones."

I'm back. MY preference, as was done this new year, is is toast the arrival, while elsewhere using a good Italian prosecco. Beats champagne seven ways to Sunday. If you disagree, fine. It keeps my price down.

yeah, you need to drink about 35 of those to get a buzz, then the hangover is hell!

Stick to beer or spirits, but us professional mixologists already know that...

When the parameters changed it opened new vistas. I really like a well buttered slice of sourdough toast to go with the fresh orange juice.

Okay, I really am getting maudlin tonight, which probably means I've had too much to drink, so I'll stop posting after this.

There's a spot in Iceland where if you go up the hill, face the right direction, and make three wishes to the appropriate god, they will be granted. I was there with my daughter a couple of months ago and made my wishes; according to the legend they won't be granted if you tell anyone, but I'm going to turn them into a toast to sailors everywhere.

"May you have a happy and healthy family, favourable winds always, and well-earned respect in your old age."

G'night, all.

My palate is not refined. I've stuck with vodka, preferably chilled in shot glasses, served with a slice of lemon apiece to chase. Type of vodka? Eh....

I call them friendship shots.

Only to be drunk in company. Solo vodka drinking is a sad business.

My boat came with an "official" boat drink: Campari and tonic water over ice with a twist of lime. I've come to love the drink and as the alcohol content is very low, you can drink a few underway with no effect.

At anchor it's usually wine or beer, but I do enjoy a Caipirinha sometimes.

The toast: "Up your kilt!"

It's funny, I really don't know what my favorite drink is... I'm typically inspired by some particular ingredient I happen to have available at the time. It might be as simple as fresh squeezed grapefruit & gin or rum & lime or....

But, my goto drink, the one thing I always have on board is port. Not the good stuff, but a simple tawny port. While it was not intentional, it's actually a tribute to my step-dad. We shared a glass every and any time we got together. As for a toast, my wife and I simply say "salud!" Morning coffee or evening cocktails... always!

Salud! my salty friends - "May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live!"

Family or ship traditions are good to have, bonding us to one another, and bringing back memories. .

I like your toast. That's a good one to remember.
