I am looking for cupholders that are deep/high enough to hold re useable water bottles that myself and my guests use.
We are trying to encourage everyone to fill up a re useable water bottle to bring with them before going out for a daysail rather than using store bought water in plastic bottles.
However, all the cup holders I have found from west marine/defender/amazon by Camco, Snapit, etc. seem to have been all designed many years ago when the drink container of choice was a 12 oz can or an actual cup. Most people now have metal bottle that is much taller and therefore will fall out of these cup holders while sailing.
So looking for what others have done to have solved this. TIA.
I have had the same problem, and my vessel was built in 2010, really who uses 12 oz cans now? I made my own yeti/seltzer/thermos bottles, out of King starboard and 316 Stainless steel screws. I used hole saw bits in a drill to get the round shapes and a jig saw to cut the shapes that attach to the SS rails.
jbinbi I picked one of these shelves in a clearance bin at our local chandlery. It easily holds our stainless-steel drink bottles. We also have some stainless-steel cups with handles that clip over the front lip.
Cheers

use PVC pipe and cut to length.
glue a cap to it.
Use a T and you can reduce the size to righ some PVC-hook up with 90° to hang it somewhere or screw it into someting.

What we have done is obtain a set of vacuum-insulated tumblers that fit the cupholders we have, all different colors so people can keep track of which is theirs. Also we have added some of the railblaza cupholders which are similar in size.

I use these in the existing cockpit cupholders. They clamp securely into the cup holder and the "fins" keep the bottles from falling out, while still making them easy to remove.

I use the PVC drain pipe and cap solution with a slot down the side for the cup handle for my helmsman's cup, can and bottle holder and also for the wine cellar in the bilge. Cheap and works well (before you jump in with a "wine should be stored with the bottle on it's side" rejoinder, pretty well all wine bottles in Australia come with screw on caps and any sediment is better settled to the bottom on a rolling sea going boat)
