Well, hello from Atlanta, GA

New member, just wanted to say Hi.

Been sailing on lake Lanier for the past few years, and just did a trip to Cuba on my friends boat. May bite the bullet and go for something like a live aboard. I have an opportunity to go to Spain and was thinking about selling alot of things and buying a nicer boat then my current 88 Catalina 27.

Lots of research and reading up ahead of me. Haven't used a search function yet, but will be looking into things like:

- License to sail in international waters
- Buying a boat in US vs Spain / Europe
- Taxation VAT, or better way not to get taxed
- International Insurance (I am sure this one has been beat to death)
- Possible working as a charter captain
- Catalina vs. Benny vs. Bavaria
- Sweet spot between boat age / size / cost

etc etc etc.

Anywhoo, hello to the board regulars

Re: Well, hello from Atlanta, GA

Hi, Alex V, and welcome aboard CF.

Under the Search menu, about 5 items down it, you will find the CF Custom Google Search, it is good at turning a concept into articles you can click on. The within-CF search is an exact match deal, and not well suited to concept searches.

In addition, there's a recent new vs. used thread ongoing, and threads on the other concerns, except the Catalina vs. Beneteau vs. Bavaria. You could start a thread on that, yourself, but there's lots here for you to look at and consider. You will find that specific questions will bring more useful answers, compared to general questions.

Hope this helps.

Ann
