Hello to All, from Atlanta

hello: my name is Ed. for the past 4 years me and my wife Yvonne have been doing the commercial electrical gig in Atlanta...fighting traffic, dealing with rude folks as they rat race around the city, trying to be content at what they perceive as their perfect spot on the planet. well we have about had it..for the past year we have been trying to sell all of our stuff...had 12 or so yard sales.....and get to our dream that we know we need in this point in our lives....Yvonne grew up in Annapolis...she got her six pack when she was 15..and her 100ton when she was 20.. she has capt. charters and done deliveries from the bay in Annapolis to the islands many times. her folks just got of their boat after 17 years of cruising... some of you may know them(Edwin and Addy Wright)....me i can do or fix anything, for the past year i have been doing research on the net at least 3 hours a day trying to catch up with what my wife knows about sailing..she says i'm doing good....the next 6 months we will be shopping for a boat to live aboard in the 38 to 44 foot range. and no i'm not going to post one of those "what boat should i buy " questions..... this is a great forum and the knowledge i had already gained for you guys is priceless...glad to be here.....and as my logon name implies we are aboutgone.................thanks.Ed and Yvonne

Welcome to the forum...

Seems lots of people work in Atlanta area but want to be someplace else! Have a nephew who works hard at a company in Atlanta but who's job assignment is all over the US and Canada. He keeps saying he will join me for a sail one winter but the "Job" always pushes it back.... LOL I can remember being like that a decade ago!

Looks like you have a firm grip on sailing contacts and you should have fun.

Where do you plan on locating and doing your cruising? I run across lots of East Coasters in the Virgin Islands. Most like me are taking hops down island as time and funds and weather allow. I'm actually just getting back home in FLA now but getting "stuff" ready for hopefully 6 months on the boat starting in early Dec when I return to the islands.

Let us know what your plans are and will keep an eye out.

Best luck on locating the boat of your dreams.

Reality Check: we are looking to stage out of Savannah/Brunswick/ Jacksonville area...still looking for a cheap one bed room apt that's close to the water....was in Savannah last march and met some nice locals that gave us some good info on moving down there. that's probably were we will stage from....do some short hops to shake down the boat, then we plan to hit the VI's and beyond......Ed
