Thoughts on the 'New' Cruisers Forum
Its been a while since the change to the new format here at "Cruisers Forum". I would be interested in hearing how the members like or dislike the changes and the reasons why?

I didn't see the old format but am no stranger to furums in general so can say that I like it very much. To me, the colours are ideal, you don't want strong colours or they'll tire the eyes and what else could anything nautical be but blue?

It seems to me like the level of advertising has gone up dramaticly? Don't care for the lines of advertising in the thread itself.

I don't like it. I am still having problems with it. I go to a new thread that I have never looked at before, and I might be at the beginning, the middle, or sometimes the end. Never had that problem before. IF SOMETHING ISN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT.

I didn't like it at first but after asking a few questions and getting the answers I have learned some of the tricks. Also it took a while to get the Ignore Thread feature working again so that helps. I like it. Its hard to remember what the old system was like now.

My only gripe is that after posting a reply in a thread, that thread disappears from the list of new posts until somebody else posts in it. If you want to go back to the thread prior to that, you have to dig it up. Hopefully you remember what forum it was in. If you don't, either you search around or go to your profile and look through your subscribed threads. This is a major PITA, IMHO, and this is the only forum of the hundreds I have every spent time in that works this way.

I would vote to remove the " ignore " feature , it's not a good idea to shut out people you don't want to hear , they may occasionally have something useful or provocative to say

fstbttms, you can see your post by going to the main page. Or going to "Quick Links" and selecting "Today's Posts".
That's fine Dave, let them say it, let me ignore it, or them me.

I disagree
I don't use the feature on people - but certainly on sub forums (CPN? & Planet Multihull) as well as certain threads.....

Paraphrasing DeepFrz:
I didn't like it at first, but it’s hard to remember what the old system was like now.
Apparently, it hasn't diminished my participation nor enjoyment.

Change is good. It keeps the brain sharp. I need it as mine tends to go blunt if I don't use it on a regular basis
