I didnt note the photo location-I think it is Mallorca but it could equally be a lovely bay in Menorca or.............. even Ibiza...... I need to get better with recording locations.

Ive done this lots of times, talk to people I mean, telling them that their life expectancy is suspect and needs serious attention, or at worse, shortened within a recognised time frame. It was a little different this visit, looking at the face of a 30 year old adult that I recall as baby and then a toddler and then through the years. It always is a wrenching feeling to be the giver of bad news, and yet with this child. there was none of the quiet deep desperation I usually am swamped by, just an overwhelming feeling of love and care and gratitude for having them in my life no matter how long or short.
This kid aint being let go so easily.
I see in the eyes, that acceptance was already setting in. The patient had not felt on top form for a while and only came to the clinic when some symptoms worsened.
I was asked one question, “Are you sure?” the only questioned needed to move to the next step.
Never one to feel sorry for self, always a practical person, and closest to me in temperament, the thoughts turned to the children and partner and what needed to be done for them. I left the family to discuss things and came back to the office.
Reflecting on life, there are many things that we do as teenagers that are downright stupid. Some have repercussions later in life, and I rather suspect that this is a contributory factor in this case. idiot!
Well- I hear no fat women singing and thus the fight is on. Im pretty good at my job, now I have to become very amazing.
No sweat. We can do this.

I must tell you I am moved by your compassion for your patient and his family. I know, from several friends who are doctors, that it is hard to manage your own emotions about patient's losses and suffering in the reality of seeing so very many patients each day. Too many doctors (perhaps as self defense) lose the sense of the patient as a person rather than a case or a disease.
I think your patients are fortunate to have you to care for them. I wish all health care providers, lab techs, office staff and insurance companies could be as compassionate.

Re: The Mallorca Squad
Thanks Tayana42.
Here is a pic of Cala sant vicenç Pollensa in Mallorca. Lovely place. A rock or two where you dont expect there to be. In bad weather you dont want a Chinese Rocna.

Re: The Mallorca Squad
Do you know what kind of boater you are?
For example, I am not a boat world traveler. I watch Monte and Bulawayo and others set off and go traversing the globe. I did all that from being a child and through my adulthood albeit via Aircraft. There are few countries that I have not visited. The interest in sailing to most places does not reside in me. In the last 3 years, I have been to Cuba, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Greece, Turkey and the Maldives, all due to giving seminars.
I have an abiding love for the Balearic Islands and had an apartment there since 1987. I visited first in 1986 after I overcame the package holday tag Mallorca has, and fell in love with the Island and the people.
There is so much to see on the Island. A culture and a lifestyle and a laid back attitude. I recall the first time I sailed from Palma to Soller. It was a brisk breeze, warm and fresh and actually in the right direction for a change. I sat at the helm and had that rare feeling of being at home.
Due to work commitments, I ended up living in the States for 14 years. When I returned to the UK, the first thing I did was to take 2 weeks and fly to Mallorca. It was the same feeling of belonging.
I am content to spend my time in the Islands cruising area. Knowing the Island moderately well, it is a change to see it from the water view. Its not a cheap place to berth the boat year round, but I have feelers out
My cruising area would extend from East side of Spain, the Islands, over to Italy and all points around. I fully expect in due course to be saddened by military action in the African coast area, but hope that the upper regions will be safe.
My friend Kenomac and his wife fell in love with the Sardinian and Corsican cruising area so that is somewhere I have penciled in for traveling.
It would be nice to live on the boat when its time. Talking with Boatie and others, I find they spent a number of years just doing that in the area and loved every minute of it.
Praire Chicken and her husband sped a few months in Mallorca every year and love the peace and sailing.......
So....... in the end, I prefer the variety of cultures in a contained area, and not being more than 60 miles from a coast.

You need to stop being so fussy and buy something, anything to get you out on the water and off your computer
