Re: The 2021 & 2022 Joke Threads

Firstly, no-one in Aus drinks Fosters. It’s only ever spotted overseas by people who think it makes them look sophisticated.

Secondly, re French beer, the last time I was there I took along a range of Aussie beers to a BBQ.
The most popular was Victoria Bitter, which, while not a bad drink, is regarded as a working man’s drink over here.

Oh we have to - the stuff we export is what comes out of Australian's who drink it!

Fosters has many uses; I would avoid ingesting it though.

You just need to buy one or two to start and then you can recycle indefinitely ...

Actually Foster's was quite popular in backpacking circles at one point . . . for the can, not the beer.

While I admit my image of a typical Australian is off the mark. Sophistication will probably never be part of that image. Think a cross of the "Man from Snowy River" and "Crocodile Dundee".
However I did once know a girl from down under. I think her name was Sheila....

Re: The 2021 & 2022 Joke Threads

The new fad in town is locally brewed beers....

I have some friends that make some in a shed back behind a house. This is serious religion for them...serious.....it's like a science project for them.

When their brew is ready, friends are invited around for a sampling test.

After the first one goes down, you don't remember your own name anymore.
The second one makes you think you can actually dance.
The third makes you think you are superman and can leap from tall buildings.
I've never made it to a fourth round.

I bottled my first ever batch of home brew (hopefully) American Pale Ale about a week ago and will crack open the first bottle in another week. I’ll report back then whether I’ve got 30 bottles of jokes or 30 bottles of beer.

Re: The 2021 & 2022 Joke Threads

I used to make beer in my basement. I did a pretty good Marzen and a Sam Adams Lager ripoff that was convincing. Also could fake a Red Stripe.

But I took it all too far when, before cannabis was legalized here in Heaven, I got it in my head to brew hemp beer using weed I bought off the cleaning lady. And to add habanero peppers to the brewing process.

To inaugurate the first batch, I invited a friend over who used to be a military police officer.

He took a deep quaff... and spat it out in disgust.

"It's a good thing i'm no longer a cop," he sputtered. "I wouldn't know what to charge you with; possession of an illegal substance, or the atrocity you committed once you possessed it."

Re: The 2021 & 2022 Joke Threads

What most people refer to as "beer" is a "lager"....

To drink a proper "beer" requires a trip to Great Britain....where it will be served "warmish" in a pint jug..a lot of places brew their own "beer"..very little "fizz" in it..

When I lived there for a while, I had a roommate that would think nothing of driving 200 miles to drink some or other beer, that was made only on occasion. It took my taste buds a while to adapt to English beer..but after a while, I genuinely liked it.

One can buy a book about beers in England. It will tell you what beer is made where and when and everything else you might like to know about. There must be 100's of varieties of beer there.

Most beers average about 5% alcohol, but from time to time, you could find 20% alchol beer.

No topic on beer gain be said to complete without talking about Guinness. It's an acquired taste for sure.

Then there are those beers which are nothing short of a joke....stuff like Old Milwaukie....I refuse to drink it..

I’ve heard the reason they drink warm beer in GB is because the refrigerators are built using Lucas electronics.
