Well, while I have indeed heard that term in Vanuatu, it was Ann who reported it! And for Bullshooter who seems to have taken offense at the post, that term is in the official Bislama - English dictionary, and in common usage throughout Vanuatu, so what's the problem?

Oops, my apologies for mixing the two of you up again. I see JPA and my mind registers "J" for Jim, even thought I do know it's Ann

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

And, I did say "titty". It is that "titi" is an Eurasian tree, as well as a Bislama word, and I used the English....in error. Mea culpa.

Somebody please tell a joke, quick!

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

For those of us who grew up reading Arthur Ransome's "Swallows and Amazons", 'Titty' is a girl's name, and nothing at all to be concerned about.

In fact, there was much consternation when, for the recent 2016 movie of Swallows and Amazons, her name was changed to Tatty, to prevent all the juvenile sniggering the former spelling nowadays generates.

As the original nickname allegedly was derived from 'Titty Mouse and Tatty Mouse', characters in an Edwardian childrens' tale, the switch was deemed acceptable by the producers, but lamentable caving in by the fans.

Shows how the language evolves...

Perhaps even more oddly, the real life person on whom the book's character was named, was christened Mavis, lending her name to the family's sailing dinghy, which was transposed by Ransome to 'Amazon'. The *actual* boat still exists, in a Museum in the Lake District, where it now proudly bears its pseudonym, 'Amazon', as being more recognisable by the visitors to the Lakes and the Museum.

If you consider that there was a long-held belief that true Amazon archers had one breast removed in order to facilitate that practice, the whole Mavis-Titty-Amazon thing begins to look mighty convoluted....

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

A Guinness brewery worker travels to the home of his co-worker with bad news.
'I'm sorry Mary, but Keith died at the brewery today'.

'Oh my god!' replied Mary, 'What happened?!'
'He drown in a vat of Guinness Stout' said the worker, sadly.

'That's terrible! Was it a quick death at least?' asked Mary.

'I'm afraid not,' the worker replied, 'He got out twice to take a piss'.

Oh, I wasn't offended, I was just angling for a mulligan or a free pass when I inevitably cross the line with a double in-yer-endo...Or get carried away and have an organism, or...

Re: The 2021 Joke Thread

Girls have got it made, they get instructions from their mother, re: use of a bra

But as a young man, the inner workings of a bra were a bit more than my mind could conceive, I had no clue why young girls wore these things...and even having two sisters did little to improve my knowledge.

Hitting my adolescence years, it came to light, that hidden behind these contrivances, might be something of interest...

My first attempts to discover said delights, were rather comical, as I had no real idea how these things were to be removed, my mother having failed to instruct me, and my father refusing to assist in the matter. So it was a rather clumsy experimental work in progress, aided and abetted by my male friends who were in the same boat so to speak.

I finally prided myself on accomplishing the one-handed, two finger maneuver.

I'm sure that most men can resonant with my story.

Women have no idea the amount of effort, practice, will-power, study and research (Playboy, etc), that men have to do in order to deal with the bra.

Men don't have to wear them, thank goodness, but we certainly have to contend with them.

Maybe classes should be offered....bra removal 101...

Classes? When the trial-and-error is so memorable?
Actually, I did get a tutor. And then married her.

Ah, there's a lot to be said for empirical research!
