Old Cars....Sailors Survey

I just completed the Peking to Paris Rally and was surprised at how many sailors participated....I would venture to say near a third of those I got close with were sailors...some very serious!...and pilots.

So I'm think-n must be quite a few classic car enthusiasts on CF...sort of stands to reason....right?

And if so...I'm looking for my next rally car...think-n a 38 ford Cabriolet if any of you may have one you're looking to sell.

Also try-n to remember the rules about whats allowed on the Off Topic threads....So think-n a casual survey of how many of you are old car enthusiasts may help keep this thread from getting nuked.....

Also I would like to take this opportunity to thank the moderators for the most excellence job they do.

Why are you surprised...
Yachts and money go hand in hand....
What would surprise me is if any of them lived aboard a 20+yr old 27ftr instead of owning big power and sail boats... likely with a full time skipper/crew...

Maybe because sailors by their nature have an adventurous spirit and also like things that need constant maintenance and money spent!

Former TR4A owner here too. I always wanted a TR3B and missed one by a few months.

standing under a tree, twisting one toe into the dirt, looking bashful..hakkoff.....

i had a buick gs 455 stage I .. they were known as the car that broke the brackets...awesome thing....just dont tromp em---blow head gasket as soon as you think about doing that, but ye get some wicked speed and torque under your hood and ass......0-90 in 1/4 block in suburbs aint bad for young mommy, now is it......how 'bout 15 mins from fremont, parked in carport, to oakland, parked for lunch, eh?
was kinda fun.....
my favorite thing, tho is making slow cars go fast--without any engine work--it is all about car control....

Re: Old Cars....Sailors Survey

Rally car. 38 Ford. Hmmm....To mean rally means TSD rally and pounding the (ahem) out of something way more advanced than that. Or does a 38 Ford do better than most when it is airborne or slewing sideways? <G>
