Re: Do You Remember Your First Bucket?

If I had a bucket
I'd bucket in the morning
I'd bucket in the evening
All over this land

Re: Do You Remember Your First Bucket?

Honestly, I have not had that many buckets.

I lost one overboard once and that, all too often, returns to my mind.

(For those that dont know.. 8 pints to a bukcet.)

8 Pints to a Gallon (in both US and Imperial measures) - and Imperial Pints and Gallons are around 20% bigger than the US versions .

IIRC (which I probably don't!) it was those extra few fuzzy hours which made all that drinking worthwhile .

Re: Do You Remember Your First Bucket?

My favorite bucket collapses nicely for storage but my first bucket was really more a wee small pail. Useful at the beach for having fun in the sand.

Gadagirl

I have a suitable title for you book (as you write more chapters - Is it getting really steamy in here???)

"Fifty Shades of a Bucket"

May it sell as many as the other one (if it does I'd like 10% for suggesting the title)

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: Do You Remember Your First Bucket?

My first bucket. I was five I think, it was so long ago. Its galvanized sides glistened in the morning sun, tempting me. It was much older than I, and almost as big. It whispered causing me to lean in closer... "Come play with me." Dare I? Had I not been told not to play with strange buckets? And the old galvanized washtub, a perfect match. Looking around, no grown-ups in site. I placed the bucket in the tub. It clanked so loud I was afraid my parents would hear. I then dragged the tub to a hidden corner of the yard, and grabbed the bucket from within. Racing, I speed to the forbidden creek. That haunted domain that pulled at me, whispered my name, and caused my parents so much consternation. They had given up on trying to keep me from it.

The bucket soon joined me in its shallow depths. Small fry, an occasional fish, crawdads found themselves captured by small hands and placed inside. Then off to the tub carrying my prize, to surreptitiously be dumped within the tub's confines. I captured all manner of creatures; fish, crawdads, snakes, horny toads, kittens and puppies, even once a baby bird. I filled it with dirt or water, rocks, blankets, toys, read books in it, whatever my heart desired. My parents always wondered what happened to them.

My favorite toys, that bucket and the tub.

A 14-foot mini-cruiser is minimalist. A 19ft is comfortable, and anything much larger than a 25 borders on ostentatious.

Current bucket I met behind a restaurant on block island. I was In need of a good bucket. Now I can't remember why but i needed it. Maybe I hadn't had one for weeks.
The ships store was whoring them out at outrageous cost. I wandered the foggy back ways behind the gin joints and shaded store fronts that doubled as restaurants. There beside a greasy dumpster she sat. Used to hard work but still in fine shape she was tattooed with a Girken pickle and USDA warnings.
We sailed thousands of miles together. She left me and started a career in movies . Starring in the bucket with the Girken tattoo. A thriller about a pierced bucket with tattoos that rides a bike and has a good memory.
Now she doubles as a trash, can rain catcher deck washer. I might feel bad about this but it seems to suit her.
