It is statistically interesting that 30% of the mods are members, whereas only .05% of all CF members are Bucketeers.

Yup, lots of women and buckets - what more could a sailor want?

Re: Do You Remember Your First Bucket?

Some of us might have to fly there.

Do they allow buckets as carry-on?

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

I hadn't realized us Bucketeers were so highly over-moderated
I must be more careful in the future....

Re: Do You Remember Your First Bucket?

All kidding aside, I have really carried a bucket as carryon, on Alaska Airlines ! I got a few funny looks, but only from turists, not from any fishermen!! ( it was a new one , not my own personal bucket )

It was starting out to be a very busy day. I had a rental car for the day and had to get to Home Depot, Costco, Petsmart and the grocery store before the car was to be returned. Not easy tasks in Puerto Rico, but with lists in hand I headed for Home Depot first.

It was as I turned the corner, in search of an assorted mix of stainless steel screws, that I first saw him -- a beauty in orange, whispering enticements to come closer and admire him, to stroke his shiny sides. But no, I had serious business to attend to today and I couldn't afford the time for such a lighthearted dalliance.

I plunged ahead, in search of my screws -- but at every corner there he was, whispering to me, enticing me, seducing me with his shiny orange plastic! He was so irresistible, but I couldn't give in. I tried to tell him "No." "I can't!" "Please don't make me do this!" "The others will never understand!" But he didn't care, he had to have me and I had to have him! I couldn't take my eyes off of him, I needed to caress him so bad, he had to be mine!

We had a wonderful ride back to the boat. Me driving, chattering about all the fun we would have, and he filled to the brim with cat food, cat liter, and screws. When we got back to the boat I introduced him to his new partner, a wonderful plunger in blue from Amazon called Mobile Washer.

I think he believed we would be exclusive (he and I) and seems to be devastated by the news, he just sits in the corner by the cat box moping. I feel bad, but really he couldn't have seriously expected me to be monogamous, I told him about my other two buckets! At least I got him a partner! Did I mention, he was just the right size?!?
