No i am happy with my diesel furnace . Just like a furnace in a house.
I grew up on wood heat im tired of the work required for wood heat.
I can get enough btus to heat my home/boat for a full season in about 15 minutes at a fuel dock .

So, so very true. As I watch videos of the woood burnig stove vs the diesel stove, it reminds of many other things in life that we crave authenticity of. I don't mind the labor of love for a real wood burning stove.

Hi there, I was wondering if you ended up installing the cubic mini. I am a liveaboard in Vancouver, BC and have purchased a cubic mini, but am hesitant to install it. The mess doesn't bother me as I am pretty good at cleaning and I have a good wood source. My concern is the value of my boat. I am in a Catalina 28 and am concerned it will reduce the value? Did that concern you?

We have had a few days of rain and my boat needs drying out!! Makes me worried for when the real winter comes and it rains every day for weeks.

If you're a liveaboard I would guess the boat's in a slip with shore power readily available. Why not put a strip or two of electric baseboard heat in her?

Just wanted to add an update in case anyone finds this useful.

I did end up installing the cubic mini cub on my Catalina 28. I have been using it now for over a month.

I installed it on the port side bulkhead. I love it! It dries the boat out so nicely. It took 2 days to finish the install. The most difficult part was cutting the hole for the flue (after which I accidentally dropped the hole saw into False Creek - thank goodness it was AFTER the hole was cut!). I used the Dickinson deck fitting and the cubic mini adapter that cubic mini provides for the deck fitting. I had to put about 2 inches of wood between the bulkhead and the stove mount as there is a lip of fiberglass and a slight curve to the roof that I had to avoid when cutting the hole for the flue. I used a beautiful piece kiln-dried fir that looks really nice so not a big deal .

If anyone is thinking about a wood stove on their boat I highly recommend the cubic mini . It looks and works great!

Estimated between 15 and 20 gallons fuel for the heating season. Much easier to refuel. And just flip a switch and set a thermostat.

I am running the Chinese knockoff of the planar.
It has not let me down yet. ( going on 2 years now) . The most important thing I have discovered watching various YouTube videos is that running it at full blast every few days for a half hour has kept it nice and clean . No soot buildup.
And running on kero for a few minutes at the end of the heating season. Was also suggested for them all.
Here are some pictures of it and the install.
I put the stat above my berth i could turn it on and off or adjust the temp as needed throughout the year.
On the shoulder seasons I only run it in the morning before I get up and a couple of hours in the evening before bed.
