Re: Life On Board full Time in Caribbean?

My blog at http://www.sv-zanshin.com has daily updates with pictures; you can peruse those pages to get an example of day-by-day activities aboard.

I'm not in the Caribbean, but as a very long term cruiser, I find this to be great advice!

In no particular order, my best defense for my cruising life comes with these two questions:
What have I done for my boat today?
What have I done for my wife today?

Maybe you avoided the dog house and maybe not with your prepositional phrase.

I read these responses several times and I just can't make sense of them. I'm probably a fortunate man to not comprehend avoiding a "dog house" or "making the wife a second question".

I have a history of good fortune with maintaining a boat and a marriage for over 45 years, but it's not actually luck at all!

Re: Life On Board full Time in Caribbean?

HI there,
While we are not full time cruisers we do live aboard in the Caribbean with short hops to the British and Spanish Virgins. We currently live on St. John, USVI with the hopes of going down island next hurricane season. I do keep a blog of some of our travels and the folks we've met along the way. Mountains and Seashore. I also follow Windtraveler and they are currently cruising the British Virgin Islands. Where the Coconuts Grow is another local blogger.

Safe travels and happy sailing,
Camile

Re: Life On Board full Time in Caribbean?

Do you have a boat now? If so what is it? Are you planning on sailing 12 months of the year or are you planning to leave your boat in the summer and return home for 6 months as many cruisers do?

Interesting.

I would say your experience depends on what you want to do.

For us, we steered clear a little of popular cruising grounds. For example, Georgetown felt like Florida, with all the organized activities for the cruisers.

We relished moving frequently. Every week was a new island, a new country, and a new culture to immerse ourselves in.
