Sooooo, anyone else moving to Newfoundland?
(see Weavis … I’m trying ).

And speaking of bread and booze, both are pretty easy to make. It’s hard to really screw up bread. And anything sugary will start to ferment pretty much on its own. Toss some fruit and water and a few spices into a vat and do nothing and you’ll get some drinakable booze in a few months.

I had a priest friend who use to make his Christmas Hooch this way each Fall. He’d start in August and by December it was good and heavenly .

my mead recipe
2 pounds honey per gallon of water
Add about 3 tablespoons of activated dry bread yeast ( I buy it by the pound )
place in glass gallon jugs with a balloon on the opening ( keeps it sealed but allows for the co2 to expand )
place it in a sunny warm location for a week or two .( till the bubbles no longer form )
pour through a coffee filter and enjoy.

Agreed, but basic bread that is pretty darn easy, and still very yummy. In a SHTF scenario, I doubt anyone is going to turn up their nose on any bread, crusty or not .

Yes, by funding this collapse through contrived 'accounting' (violating every principle of accountable accounting...), the climax moments of this collapse are kicked down the road.

The dead-end road. With the 'No Outlet' sign posted back about 1960 or so.

Every FirstWorld empire is based on wealth extraction:
Coal.
Oil.
Iron ore.
Factory farms.
Factory ships 'strip-mining' the ocean of edible fish.
Cities 'strip-mining' rural areas for a few more hours of illusion-propping.
And bankers extracting interest (infinite interest on loans requires infinite 'growth).

Our species lost a lot with this goofy haphazard civilization experiment.
Now, we realize agriculture, and its evil sibling civilization, are inherently self-destructive.

'What happens next?' is the foundation of this thread.
Our inevitable return to nomadic hunter-gatherers?
Co-operative instead of competitive?

And instead of variations of mono-theism and its assorted angry deities, our inevitable return to pastoral animism?

not really as accurate as one would think . The bulk of the Puget sound will have minor water related effect damages most of it would be structural.
The worse shtf for my region is mount Rainier erupting VEI 4 or larger .

I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but I think the best place to go would be where you can band together with like minded others. In a lawless society, I'd suspect before too long, armed groups would be either pillaging, or imposing "order" unfortunately. Not a pretty thought.

technically it is a boat . It is a self propelled barge with anchoring spuds .

I’m surprised there are no gun turrets .

Actually, I assume this thing would be about as useful as most of our boats. Although most of us have wind power, not just diesel, so there’s one obvious advantage. But either way, it’s a short to medium term refuge at best.

This whole bunker mentality of some in the prepper community is simply ludicrous. None of us is an island, and certainly not when the SHTF. A community of cooperative, self-reliant and resilient people will be the place to be for long-term survival.
