get a honda or yamaha 2000w for other than a/c. if you find you need ac for a few nights go buy a $100 window unit at home depot and place in companionway. You will find many uses for honda/yamaha gen, ac will just be "frost"ing on the cake.

We have two AC units and a 7KW diesel generator on our 41' ketch. At the marina dock and while working we find the AC essential and used with shore power. The generator is less important, but a great luxury at times while we are off the dock. We would not miss either of them in the Bahamas or further south while living on the hook.
