Mobjack Bay is one of my favorite places to sail up to.
The entrance is pretty straight forward, but it's real shallow NW of the Light.
I was trying to sneak in close to it one time coming in from the North, but saw the low
water waves and turned just before running aground.
Then I had to sail against the
wind for a while to get in position to round it.
I usually go in all the way and turn left into the Severn River.
It's very protected in there if you ever needed a good protected spot.
It was great one October when a front came rolling in in the morning while I was leaving Kiptopeke.
Photo's from Mobjack Bay and old video. (BTW I redid my boat's
interior soon after this with new
paint, shades, lamps, custom settee cushion etc)
I was quite tired as I filmed that anchor scene as the sail across had been interesting as the temperature went from 87 degrees to about 68 degrees as that front rolled in.
You can see the headland for Mobjack Bay in the sail over video at the top of the
screen to the right a bit off center.
I believe this was mid October 2018.
Kiptopeke to Mobjack Bay then returning to Virginia Beach the next day
