Customised Boating Items

I'm toying with the idea of offering personalised items for sale to cruisers, polo shirts with your ships name embroided on nicely, also on items like pens, cups, caps, plates etc

What do you think? Would there be enough business sailing from marina to marina selling these?

Would you buy something?

Just being honest, there's a few folks around doing that already. Especially where anyone is racing there's a prebuilt need and market around matching gear. My friend's boat came with towels embroidered with the ship's stylized name. I think they had hats, jackets, and other stuff too. It was pretty over the top. So I know people are buying it. Just seems kind of crazy to me.

Once I get another boat, I'd buy some...

I would just like to clarify, CF is a commercial free zone and I am not in any way trying to get business with this thread, I am just testing the water (pardon the pun)

Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to reply

As Rebel Heart pointed out, you will have tuff competition. My son is in Fort Worth, Tx. and has a large advertising business that distributes internationally. I can't iamgine going to a port anywhere without seeing such novelties, T-Shirts and the like. Are you going to carry an inventory? Instead of limiting your target market to cruisers, you might visit those shops, just carry samples and a portfolio and take orders. You can have items drop shipped anywhere...almost. But I can tell you it's competitive, but there is money in it! Due diligence....Good Luck
