Safety Items

Hi Everyone,

Hypothetically, if I were to splash tomorrow and do a few day transit along the coast to another marina, what safety items are required, necessary, and nice to have? I'd like to have an idea of what I need to get now and what can wait. Limited budget and all. I tried the coast guard site, but they don't directly address my question.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Jeff

This website will get you started by telling you the minimum requirements.

Equipment Requirement

Optional safety equipment might be an EPIRB and a raft. There is plenty more optional equipment.

USCG required equipment:

Quick Reference Chart

ISAF (racing) required and recommended equipment (pretty big file)- for your purposes I would look at the items required for Class MO (monohull) 3 (near shore)
