In any event, the largest online Cruising Forum in the world is watching with interest. What should be an easy repair job is dragging on a little. Im trying hard to find a good reason for this delay but failing miserably.

People.
Its not a re-con.. Its supposed to be brand new..
Straight from the factory.. allegedly.

Apologies for not remembering it was new. So many options discussed I thought you had gone for the recon.

I plead insanity.

in my experience boat repairs of this nature generally take three times longer than expected, and cost twice as much

Re: spot the boatman!

Back in the days when I was writing computer programs for a living, when pressed for an estimate, I used to tell people that I would use my many years of experience to consider all of the steps involved and all of the problems that might be foreseen to come up with my most accurate estimate of how long it would take to write the program. Then I would double the original estimate and change to the next higher unit of time. Thus a two day project would become a four week project.

They thought I was kidding, but until I got to the position where I could charge extra for changes that were not in the original specifications it was disturbingly accurate.

I'm beginning to believe that boat repairs follow a similar pattern.

Re: spot the boatman!

Well, I was starting to wonder about this. I need some bread and entertainment, and a trip to Portugal serves both. I dream of gearboxes now, with wings, buzzing furiously as they land in trees near Boatyville.

An extra cerveza to the installer upon completion!

Cheers, Boatie.

Re: spot the boatman!

LOL

If that's boaty gearbox then he's going to be be struggling to fit it, unless his boat needs an Mitsubiti Evo IX sequential gearbox
