Re: spot the boatman!

Just talked with the man.

Box is in! Phil and engineer doing final checks today and testing it for alignment and stuff. Going take a small test run to be sure. Steering hydraulics have been bled once more and bits and pieces have been updated and rectified.

Winds have shifted the wrong way, so instead of battling them, he might hang on till Wednesday am when they move round again. Winds will be Easterlies on Wednesday so could be flying towards Portugal.

I hope this is not his engineer. He's been looking for work

hahahaha

No the engineer is a good 'un- just lacking in the communication dept. Thus far Phil has no complaints about the standard of work performed.

I think a good engineer is an ornery so and so and covered in a fine layer of grease and grunts in the right places......

Actually saw one of these tested in New Caledonia one time. Needed more development.

Godspeed, Boatie! And only use the hammer persuaders when all else fails!

It's quite possible that Salty does not need one of them

Re: spot the boatman!

Took a look at the weather. It appears to be 15 knot westerlies still in a steady blow. Have not linked to Phil this morning so dont know his plans, although I do know according to the SPOT he has not moved.

He will let us know in due course.

Re: spot the boatman!

Don't worry Weavy.

It takes boaty a day or two to wind the rubber band for his propellor, a band that stretches from bow to stern.

He also uses it for his airplayne

Re: spot the boatman!

As a reminder, here's his spot link

SPOT Shared Page

For a laugh I put in what I guess is his route into the Predictwind weather routing app. The polars are all wrong for him, but anyway, this is what I got back.

I don't really understand the 4 different routes other than I think CMC is some Canadian weather service, GFS is the forecast from NOAA. PWG & PWC I think are Predictwind's routes based on GFS & CMC forecasts but I don't understand why I get 4 choices. I'm stuck in the marina with no mast and only plan day sails, so the summer is when I try to learn how the software works.
