Re: Best Boat Bikes?
Best boat bikes? Not a bike at all. Longboard. Many like drop downs, but personally I use a twin tip free style like landyachtz, having a traditional nose and tail makes getting over curbs, sidewalk cracks gravel etc. So much easier. Of course this versatility comes at the cost of maximum velocity.
Word of warning though. You don't bounce like you used too. I was an avid sake boarder 25 years before buying my Longboard, but hadn't been on one in 20 years. I was black and blue and covered in road rash for the first month while I learned that I should take it easher than I used too. My wife makes me wear a helmet now too, which feels kind of goofy.

Re: Best Boat Bikes?
I've had a Downtube for 5 years and been very happy. Stainless chain and spokes, aluminium frame and most bits. A once a year cleaning takes off the minor cosmetic rust stains on a few bolt heads and such. Quality is very good. It rides very well.
I have one with the sealed internal 8 speed hub. Many fewer greasy parts exposed. Not quite the shifting range of a big derailleur but enough for me. They now offer a belt instead of chain which certainly sounds great.
The company is very small and run by a college professor, Dr. Yan, who personally answers emails. According to the web site, he now lives in Nassau and is the Bahamas national chess champion.

Re: Best Boat Bikes?
I would add another vote for the Brompton. Very flexible and folds into the smallest package. Definitely need a cover to protect from corrosion. As you can see, able to carry a decent load of essential supplies.

Re: Best Boat Bikes?
I have 3 Electrolyte compact e-bikes that split into two parts.
When I ordered I told them they are for my yacht so they even personalised them with my yachts name
No problem with corrosion after 2 years, aluminium frames and stainless steel
I joined here to recommend them to you people as they are heaps of fun to ride

What about a MOTORIZED folding bike?
https://www.diblasi.com/faqs.htm
On paper looks pretty good. Folds in a few seconds, does 30mph and weighs only 64 LBS.

Re: Best Boat Bikes?
Would like to push this conversation a little more and ask if anyone has experience with any of he newer modes of personal transportation. Powered scooter like the electric Razor or gas powered scooters, or some of the new electric long boards. These break down smaller than the bikes and set up smaller. They are also price competitive with the bikes as well as not requiring the pedaling.

We have been using the E-Twow scooters for a few years now.
They are 23 lbs and go 18.6 mph with a range of 22 miles.
You can buy them in the $650 usd range.
They have front and back brakes. Front is a re-gen brake.
They have front and back lights and a horn.
You can fast charge them in 1 hour 40 minutes. We charge them off of our boat solar panels.
We go every where with them and they are tons of fun.
Their is a similar newer carbon fiber model that weights 14lbs.

Re: Best Boat Bikes?
Maybe the best boat bike, isn't a bike, Cotemar got me thinking and I know have one of these coming
We will see how it works out, I'm intrigued by the 20 mile range and its ability to pull a trailer as well as the basket
