PM SPAM from Emerald yachts

Hi Folks we are aware of unwanted spam sent via PM today. Please do not respond or click. We are working to clean this up and will ban the accounts and also remove the spammy PMs from inboxes in the process. Thanks for your patience.

You can never have enough boats

Anyway, it's hard to imagine that such methods would in any way, persuade anyone on the boating community to consider their company.
But what do I know, I'm not in marketing.

I was just looking for a place to report this. Thanks.

this spam is pushing malware

We saw the same on TrawlerForum a few days ago, I'll copy my warning note from there below. Thankfully the content is much less relevant to this audience so hopefully no one got caught.

Just to add to this, the site appears to be a ripoff of a legitimate Seattle yacht broker's site with a downloadable Windows program that contains malware, according to analysis by VirusTotal. I suspect the sole reason behind the site and spam is to try to infect folks and steal various information.

I'm not mentioning the name of the site or the legitimate broker, but have sent an email to them to ensure they are aware. Hopefully no-one downloaded and ran the program, if you did then you'll want to, at a minimum, ensure you scan your computer with a legitimate malware scanner and be on the lookout for suspicious activity.

Me too. BTW, spammed everyone on trawlerforums as well. Is it simple to setup a bot to garner everyone's name and PM them? If not, and someone at Emerald did this manually, well, kudos to them for the effort.

Re: PM SPAM from Emerald yachts

Just received the same spam from Adressis who apparently is still online. having an ad in a post is bad enough, but sending a pm. The guy must be a complete fruitloop. Piss me off and then expect me to fall for your advert. Brain dead.

Thank you for addressing the SPAM.

Perhaps, if this or similar problems should occur, maybe an email should be sent to the list advising that the problem has been already reported and is being addressed. I'd already replied via email to CF to report the issue before this post was found.

I have received the PM, however from another user that seemed to have posted on here in the past. Seems like a coordinated exercise. Hopefully they are not hacking real user accounts to do this.
