Minimum requirements for "international" travel.

Hi, With the covid19 nonsense, I'm looking at options to reset my visa.

I'm a Canadian(unfortunately) in Florida(Sweet), my visa is running out in a few months, and me not wanting to do covid19 testing for air travel, land borders being closed... I'm looking into the possibility of getting a sailboat to try some neighboring nation destination.

What sort of paperwork is required for taking a Florida/Texas titled boat to Bahamas/Mexico? I know typically you register a yacht in x nations ship registry but I'm wondering if that is necessary for immediate neighboring countries?

If anyone knows any other options to country hop by sea during these times... I'm interested in hearing them. Technically I just need to leave for a day and I can be allowed another 6mo. in the US. Was looking into cruise ships, but while they are booking, it seems they are not actually running yet'(Playing some game with pushing bookings, and taking your money).

Thx

If you don't want to "do covid19 testing" I am afraid you are going to be stuck... The Bahamas require it, and every other island nation I have looked at in the Caribbean. They are being smart.

What's the problem with testing?

Re: Minimum requirements for "international" travel.

From some sites I am seeing Mexico requires no testing, masks(spotty) or quarantine.
Dominican Republic requires masks only in public spaces(no testing/quarantine).

My hope here is someone might have some personal knowledge or loopholes of nearby nations. Are neighboring nations strict with the 'ships registry' requirements(Do they allow state titled vessels in)? Maybe some say testing is required, but will let you quarantine on your boat instead? Maybe some require testing after arrival, and one can check-in then immediately leave? (Most requirements are 'within 72 hours of departure', so what about those at sea longer than that?).

Like Covid19 testing isn't required by land(sea?) when entering the united states and only recently necessary by air(I wonder, is this like "TSA" if you fly in on private plane, you can avoid it?); No quarantine/masks required depending on US State(kudos to Florida Governor).

A friend in Texas also says despite the "news" many Mexican crossings are allowing visitors, and with 'right to return home' the US lets those visitors back in(He's going to Mexico again next week and will ask the US side about Canadians(likely only under guise of 'returning home'), but if they don't put a restriction on timing; that might work.

I've researched covid-19, lockdowns, and masks more than most; and while the virus is 'real', it is statistically less significant than a bad influenza(It doesn't initially look like that, until you see how they are counting deaths(with vs from)). I don't wish to feed the beast(monetarily or otherwise) by paying the $ for the testing if I can help it. I don't come by conspiracy theories lightly, but the global irrational response has convinced me *something* is up'(WEF/$ Printing/US Sustainable development/UN 2030 Agenda?).

So I am tired of hearing how COVID is a hoax, or not that bad.

Here are some facts. Total deaths in the US 2020 vs 2019, from all causes are up 334k. Hard cold fact. That is a whole lot more than the flu!

See https://usafacts.org/articles/prelim...virus-age-flu/

Do everyone a favor and look deeper...

The information isn't collected in one place as well, but for example overdoses are up 50% in San Fransisco , more ADDITIONAL deaths in overdoses than covid19; States that didn't shutdown have no additional cases/deaths than those that don't(factoring in age especially; re: Florida). 2.8 million people a year die in the USA normally; and because of baby boomer population age distribution increasing deaths 1% or so a year annually (until those born in 1958 reach the average life expectancy).

watch whole thing. ie: No more people are dying once you factor out the additional suicides/murders/OD.

This one is more current and covers 2020 on the whole

Start looking at the statistics yourself. Like "greedy insurance companies", why is it Travel Health insurance INCLUDING covid19 doesn't cost any more than 2019? Because they know it's statistically insignificant to any other health condition; And they are 'for profit' highly competitive industry, so they can't afford to artificially raise rates. (I bought mine through Bluecross this year).

Indeed.
I’m curious.
Are your seeking to avoid the laws and regulations of your host country (USA), and/or it’s neighbours:
- Because you think your smarter than the regulators, and can outwit them?
- Because you’re a very special person, & rules shouldn’t apply to you?

In most circumstances, Canadian citizens do not require visitor, business, transit or other visas, to enter the United States, either from Canada, or from other countries. There are, however, some exceptions to this situation.
Canadian visitors are generally granted a stay in the U.S. for up to six months at the time of entry. Requests to extend, or adjust a stay, must be made prior to expiry, to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service.

I presume you intended to reply to me. I am not seeking to avoid *ANY laws; just the opposite!, rather follow them to accomplish my goals. Every state is different and enforces imposed laws differently; so was/am looking for any insight on necessity of ships registry(for neighboring states, does every Florida boater who crosses to bahamas get/need to register their vessel in the ships registry?) How about Texas/Mexico, or the 3 day(well, under perfect conditions) sail from Florida to Cancun Mexico?

I stand corrected. I must have misunderstood your words.
Have you applied for an extension?

Re: Minimum requirements for "international" travel.

Just get a test. You cannot go to any countries that you mention without doing so, and you likely will need a test when you return if not a US citizen. It costs $100 and takes 5 minutes.

Plus, you reduce the risk of spread.

I have spoken with USCIS about it, and it is being considered.. Apparently they don't say yes often for visitor visas and it does cost over $300 non-refundable. There are more raised questions with i539 that I am still waiting replies on(Canadians have a 'special status', a B2 apparently yet 'not a B2).

Ideally I had hoped to just take a side trip for the reset, and still may; but we will see.

Land border to Canada is open to Canadian Citizens if you just don't want to fly. There is no restrictions to driving thru the US to get to the border.

Mexico is open without a test (currently). Not sure if that includes arriving by sea.

Generally, without US citizenship, you can't get a boat USCG registered. You may be able to get state registration but it may raise an eyebrow if your citizenship doesn't match the registration on the boat when you arrive at a foreign port.

What is your sailing experience? Florida to say Cancun is a multiday offshore trip...against the gulf stream. A new sailor in a new boat...doesn't sound like a great idea.

Ah, so your understanding of the term "loophole" is different that mine.

BTW, the land border is not closed to Canadians. You can drive through, as long as you have a clean test.

But let me get this straight, you are a Canadian who, against the recommendations of Canada, has chosen to travel to Florida. Now that Canada demands a clean Covid-19 test prior to coming home -- much like many other countries -- you're looking for "loopholes" that would allow you to travel elsewhere by boat.

Apparently you're not a cruiser; are you even a sailor or boater? Do you know the first thing about moving a boat across open water? Do you have the money to buy, insure and set up a boat for big water (or any water)?

And all because you don't want to take a test .

And then you insert a whole load of crap information, and slag the country that, despite your disdain, you still apparently wanted to come back to . I'd say stay where you are, but it would be unkind to the Floridians.

Re: Minimum requirements for "international" travel.

Still not seeing why you do not want to get the test. It is relatively non-invasive, completely safe, doesn't take much time, doesn't cost much money. Almost everywhere you would want to go will require it. I just cannot imagine any rational objection.
