Peel plied West epoxy & tiles.........

This ok to stick tiles over, or do you need some kind of primer?
I did the epoxy/PP and offered the method to tile adhesive people & they just vagued out on me.
Always have gone by the adage, when in doubt epoxy it and remove the doubt.
That said, i dont want to use epoxy to set tiles down.

Are these ceramic tiles? Epoxied tiles will need a sledgehammer & crowbar to remove them later if you want to remodel. Standard tile cement, applied using a notched trowel, is somewhat less tenacious.

Should stick fine but would wash it good first and wouldn't hurt to wet sand slightly with some 80 grit. You can buy epoxy thinset. It is fairly common.

Re: Peel plied West epoxy & tiles.........

Yep, ceramic.
I have only used the epoxy as a waterproofer to timber below.
I was going to use regular Bostik Conflex gold tile adhesive but
got nervous as no one could ok it.
Epoxy has bond breakers under on the transitions and I used flexible brew epoxy.
Peel ply is supposed to deal with amine according to GB.
Used heaps during rebuild.
I agree, doesn't hurt to clean again tho.
Don't you just hate something that is supposed to adhere and......
and only sort of does, even with being scrupulously clean and providing a key.

It looks like that they are recommending a primer. It is an epoxy primer that is formulated for under their product. https://www.miproducts.co.nz/Search/...6b8aa-6400.htm

I epoxied the A/C exterior plywood substrate around the sink in a rental kitchen figuring a tenant wouldn't be careful with splashed water. Did a light sanding with 100 grit and set the tile with a mastic. Had no problems with rot or tile coming loose for the 10 years before we sold the house.

Why Tile?
Doesn’t flex (boats do)
Heavy
Grout lines WILL crack
Just my 2 cents worth, am I missing something?

Fair comment.
Land based, ie Admirals ensuite.
If I get it done I get a sea pass.

Unless you need it to be smoother than the pattern the peel ply leaves, I wouldn't sand or wash it--it's a perfect surface already. Washing and sanding will only introduce contaminants.

You would think it may be an issue, but it wasn't on the boat I did. They make epoxy grout. Extensive galley top and a bulkhead heater back splash. I used small tile though, like 1" in the galley and 2" on the back splash.
Speaking of heavy, my Passport had thick Granite counters!
