Adler-Barbour Part

I recently purchased a boat in the Grand Cayman's and it has a refrigerator that is not working. I was told by the previous owner that the digital control was the problem and I just needed to get a new one. I'm returning to the boat next month and would like to take the part along to fix it.

It has the following information on the back of the part.
"Model# TC-110S-12VDC CID# GFBD Date Code 0426/50319"
I have tried West Marine and several other people on the internet and they don't handle this part.

I also tried to contact WAECO via email but got not reply.

I do have the old knob adjuster that was still working so I can reinstall it. I was just wondering if anybody had any suggestion on where I might get the digital control part.

Thanks

"Digital Control" is not very descriptive: The compressor motor driver? The thermostat. Almost no marine business ever replies to emais in any coherent way. Call A-B.

If it's a Danfoss compressor, the parts are very common in RV and marine suppliers.

The problem is rarely the refrigerator parts but rather the kindergarten-electrician work found on nearly all boats.

What's that part?

Thermostat control:

took about 22 seconds to find via google search...

Carrill has something very similar used to be sold by RParts - if they are still in business...

Thanks for all the feedback. I didn't think about doing the specific search suggested, I looked for adler-barber specifically.

I had not really though about bad wiring, will do some testing on that. Since this is a new boat to me I haven't got all the particulars on the unit. I will be documenting those particulars on this trip but will definitely consider looking into wiring issue.

I did get a good reply from WAECO on where I can get the part.

All this helps and thanks to the forum for being a good resource for a new boat owner.

I think you may find that if this is a very old AB model with a three wire compressor controller, you may not be able to find a current provider of the part. The four wire version will not work and cannot be made to do so. RParts does not carry it anymore (and were not helpful though I had bought these controllers from them in the past) and a few years ago I had to call all over the US and found one on a shelf from some repair shop in Florida. I was told that they are not available repeatedly by several suppliers. These controller parts on the old models were a very common failure point--I went through several. My intent is to replace the whole unit when my current one fails.

I am sure there are others who have had the same experience.

Heartily agree with checking with Kollmann. Great human being and very helpful...he used to own his own shop but retired. Still helps cruisers a ton.
