Thank you!
We had our first sail recently before the weather again closed in. Now working on propane system installation when there's a break in weather and temps up enough for fiberglassing.
Keep at it, you'll get there (I keep telling myself)

Re: 40 yr old Cape Dory gets a face lift

Another great weekend for boat fun, finished wet sanding and buffing hull sides, added the striping and reg. numbers, installed the bulkheads in the aft bilge area, painted the entire aft bilge lockers. Installed the new battery and gave the ole girl a much needed bath. Arrty can't wait to get her in the water

She looks beautiful! Jealous. Bad weather and demands on time has kept us from making progress, Grr!

Can't wait to see pictures of her afloat. You have worked so hard to give this worthy boat another life on the water. Enjoy the fruits of your labors for many years to come.

Wow! can't wait to see the shots of her heeled over scudding along! I have entered the dark hole with my boat, in the middle of projects with the mast down, and anxious to get it done before summer, so it really helps cheer me up to see YOUR boat coming together so well!

Re: 40 yr old Cape Dory gets a face lift

me neither, hey another question, how much does the wire stretch? my aft shrouds are about at the end of adjustment. I might have about 1/2" on each side?

They will stretch exactly half an inch Actually, seriously, I'm not sure but it is true you don't have much play left there in the turnbuckle. Both sides the same? I would not worry about it, tune 'em and go sailing. IF and it's a big if, they are truly too loose I believe you can cut the shroud right at the swaging and put on Stay-loc or Hi-Mod (Norsemans are gone now I guess) ends and then with perhaps one toggle the length will be ok when the turnbuckle is out 1.5 inches or so... hard to tell, I am just eyeballing it from the photo. How high is that toggle on the bottom?
