See have a family member send you some Biobor, off of memory 1 ft treats more than 2000 gls of fuel, so it lasts a long time

Re: The importance of clean fuel

Are any of you guys using a Baja filter/funnel? It filters out water and sludge before it gets in your tanks.

I'd also recommend building your own fuel polishing system, that way you can do it yourself underway and don't need to rely on or pay anyone to do it for you. It's not that expensive.

Here in Mx, gthey use to be used a lot. Now I only see them at swap meets. Back in the day, one would receive fuel at a dock of a fishing village in a 55 gallon drum. You definitely wanted to sift that swill. Today it is pretty modern. Other than ambient moisture getting into the tank via condensation, it is not used that much.

Ive used a very similar funnel, good for water but in my opinion not fine enough. I think they are about 110micron. Coming up the west coast of Sumatra this year every drop of fuel went through it BUT I was changing filters every 50-70hrs.
My next boat will have a polishing system.

The problem with Baja filters was you need a very long time to fill your tank. Very slow. You may be anchored in a chop , the boat rocking and rolling, with a commercial fill hose strung to the boat, and trying to fill at a rate of maybe a gallon a minute thru the Baja...

The one I linked to is rated at 12-15 GPM. That's pretty fast.

Well hopefully it is. However, the only way I can think to speed it up is to loosen the filtering to allow bigger stuff thru.

If you look at the photo, that unit has 2 separate filter towers, much more filter area. That's how you increase flow, with increased area.

Same thing with the RO watermakers. The higher flow 40 GPH units simply add a second filter to the 25 GPH system, using the same pump.
