Photos of the New Leopard 50

Thought some folk might be interested to see a few photos of the new Leopard 50 that has replaced the Leopard 48.

Re: Photos of the New Leopard 50

Interesting how square they're starting to look. Had a 46 anchored next to a 48 next to me. The 48 had much shaper edges, the 50 seems to be squarer and sharper again. Good, bad? don't know.

Hi Dale
Agree with your comments ..... I did not take the liberty of going aboard
The evolution from the new 45 continues ..... with a flying bridge (without the helm ...... dont no how else to describe it ) which IMHO is a much better setup than a true flying bridge with helm ..... and new davit system like the new FP 47 and it seems to only come in a 4 and 6 stateroom set up .... perfect for the charter market ....... first cat from them in 50 foot or less that does not have the classic owners set up of one dedicated hull.

Oh and the first Leopard I have seen with a traveller from the main

Just from a cosmetic standpoint, I like the rounded edges better.

I do to. I hopped on a 48 recently, blown away by the size, and liked the front door and seating area. The real estate for solar was unreal.

Design driven by how the boats will be used..."Par-tay"

I wonder how seaworthy these designs are getting to be....perhaps I'm just getting old but that design does zero for me.

Does it have an escape hatch on the bottom?

They must of used a Brick for its design.

That’s insulting to bricks - be nice on this forum.

Awesome platform for a party week with a bunch of unrestrained exhibitionists, but I’m not sure why they’ve bothered with a rig and sails. It would need to be a big family to justify 4-6 cabins for a long term cruising boat (and likely as many heads) - oy, the cleaning.

I’m sure it’s beautiful to some. Enjoy.

The older Leopards all had travellers. This looks very Lagoonish to me.

Re: Photos of the New Leopard 50

And, if that's a dinghy platform, be aware that they are very hard to use in a rough anchorage, where the boat is pitching up and down. To each his own.

Good luck on finding a 30’ wide slip, guess will be on the hook each night

Re: Photos of the New Leopard 50

For island hopping with the dinghy tied to a sugar scoop, I could see how the cockpit leading right to the swim platform over the water would seem incredibly expansive which is nice. For bluewater cruising, I prefer FP's seating on the transom as a barrier aft (plus the extra locker storage). Curious where the grill would go then since I can't see a location for a larger setup you would expect to feed all the people this boat can hold.

Re: Photos of the New Leopard 50

Like a lot of others who have commented I am not a fan of the square look either & this boxy look is very unattractive. I bet like the other current models you cannot see the bows nor the sugar scoops from the helm which is a big negative in my book making docking much more difficult.

dont sweat the practicalities gents - this ones designed for a paid skipper to get the paying punters from one dock to the next for a week and thats about all.
