Unlikely. What's the breaking strain of your shrouds? How big a fraction of the total displacement is that?

I've heard this before but have my doubts. How do you know this? Where did you get this information?

Re: How to upRight a 57' cat

I’ve heard this rumour that the big 3 design their rigs to fail before capsize, but I can’t imagine the engineering required to actually work out what value to use. Rig loads vary so much with wind and wave action that I can’t imagine that you could create a ‘fuse’ that wouldn’t have a good chance of letting go prematurely.

Re: How to upRight a 57' cat

The shrouds on a " big three" 40 something footer would be at least 12mm, with a break strength of around 18 tonnes. They'll lift a hull before a shroud would break.

Wouldn’t like to beat off a lee shore in strong winds with your boat then! If your shrouds, like mine, are 12 mm, then the mast will stay on ...
