Re: Atlantic Delivery

Like I mentioned before, this is epic! I am addicted to this journey of Boatmans as I'm sure all here are. Would someone care to start a poll to see where and when he will end up?

I am a little concerned that spot hasnt transmitted for 11 hours.

Go Boaty go!

I absolutely concur Casual, the knowledge us wee newbie's are gaining here can't go without saying many thanks to those who are contributing. This is truly amazing. This thread needs to be framed and as it's not over I will visit everyday to pay homage to Captain Phil, his crew and all the peeps here that has gifted us with this journey.

You can't buy this, it's completely free.....awesome!

Many thanks all,
Markus

Edit: spot just posted 12 min ago, looks like he had a good day! GO BOATY!!!!!

Atlantic Delivery

Yes he's in the groove now for a few days. Sea states a bit confused but nothing to bother the lagoon.

I suspect strongly he'll make for maderia. The Azores is too north at this time of year and he's heading for Gib anyway.

Looks like he'll get 3-5 good days and he'll climb north to avoid getting headed by the trades as he moves east.

I'm amazed how rivetting his progress is....

For those equally spellbound, here is something you can flip to in between the arrival of new Spot location fixes.

The Ninth Watch for the ninth Pitch Drop.

THe 9th drop in 86 years could happen any time now.....Keep the vigil!

Where is boatman heading? Well, you see, he forgot to unsubscribe from the thread before leaving, and his previously undisclosed sat phone data connection (for email only) is now going nonstop downloading all those notification emails every time you buggers post to this thread. Only hope he has to avoid his sat phone bill consuming his entire delivery fee is to head for that narrow band without spot coverage, in the hope that we all stop posting on this thread, and start a new "where is boatie" thread speculating on whether he hit a container or whale, went turtle or got arrested by the UN for sailing in a non Bluewater capable boat..

Anyway, that's my theory, and I'm stickin' to it!

You're looking good, pal. But how come when I was buying you had to have one in each hand "for balance"?

Re: Atlantic Delivery

Every morning and every night I can't wait to see where Boaty is and what has gone on and everyone's ideas! Awesome thread- I am learning so much and research all the links and hints everyone gives. Probably my most favorite thread ever (helps too we are selling our boat and wanting a 440 so I'm insanely curious on that front, too) I love all the guessing and weather forecasting! It is a true sailing thread- are we really only 1/3 of the way? Really? Going to go down in CF history! Plus it's awesome he has so much respect from so many people all from all over that just demands such a comradery. Kinda what I think a big part of sailing is about- the people you meet and sharing of experiences and stories and support.
