Anyone familiar with WINERGIE, an 1999 Outremer 50 LIGHT in the Caribbean ?
If you have first hand sighting of this boat, what would you say the overall condition was when you last saw it?
So that the thread holds some traction, does anyone have sailing time in any of the Outremers?
Also, how is Outremer pronounced? U-tray-me ?

I was aboard her last week. For me, it was too much of a project... Some good points: the mast looked great having been recently painted, the two new yanmars would be an asset.

Project, as to cosmetic? From pictures, it looks to not have been protected from the elements?
That is one of the great things about CF. I wasn't sure I'd find anyone who has seen Winergie, let alone last week and responds within an hour. Doesn't get any better than that for a sailing forum. THANKS

Bob, I did not go as far as a survey but structurally I found nothing wrong. Will make a great boat for someone but the finished cost was going to be more than I wanted.

Dave,
From your two previous boats, I'm thinking we share similar tastes. Can I trouble you as to your boat progression and reasons why? I would value your input.

Re: Anyone familiar with WINERGIE, an 1999 Outremer 50 LIGHT in the Caribbean ?
I already posted on another forum the following :
I was interested by this boat, looks really good and the asking price seems realistic. But if you come in relation with the broker who is selling her, beware of dogs !!
I planned a visit, among other boats in St Maarten, and after some visits my wife (and I as well !) were enthusiastic on another kind of boat, so it became obvious that visiting this Outremer was useless since I was sure I wouldn't buy it. When I e-mailed this to the broker, I received a furious and indeed insulting response, such I never encountered in the marine world (a rich world of hard tricks, though...). I am really happy I won't deal with these people !
So if you are interested in this boat, and it is surely worth the purchase, check that the broker has taken his pills or come armed to an appointment...!

Oh sh*t, I'm gonna have to sail fast when Bob comes visiting me I like these much better than the new models!
AFAIK, it is pronounced as out-reamer.
ciao!
Nick.

Re: Anyone familiar with WINERGIE, an 1999 Outremer 50 LIGHT in the Caribbean ?
Nick,
In rough seas on a passage, if you think I would want to sail at your speed, then I have given you the wrong impression of me. You could just save me an anchorage for when I do arrive.
As to the pronunciation of Outreamer, the way you suggest is how I pronounce it, but that would not be how the French would pronounce it, so I'm still open for other's inputs.
I am also looking at the Cantana (how is that pronounced in French), found a nice one on the Internet that is 11 years old, original owner.
Every single handed bachelor needs an on board "man cave". I can just picture (2) flat screens, computer, and office equipment in this hull....
The name of this Cantana is Radio Flyer, which suits me because even though my last boat didn't have anything special going for it, it always had the strongest HF signal...
You know me and Nav stations, I want a chart table that can handle a chart....

The international pronounciation code is : \ütrə-mer\
and you can hear it there :
Merriam-Webster Pronunciation
(another "French friend" )

These are current pictures, so Shelter Bay Marina, Colon, Panama.
The other one is a Chris White 65 or so... look how the dinghy stores, super! On the other hand, I don't fancy the forward cockpit too much (can't see it on the photo, it's forward of the cabin)
ciao!
Nick.
