Wasa Atlantic 51? 51' loa 10.8' beam across the Pacific?

It is time for a bigger boat, I want a medium displacement. I understand the advantages of full keel heavy boats I just don't like to drive them. My next boat will end up cruising SE Asia. I am considering a Wasa Atlantic 51. Tall rig (p=53.8') and narrow beam (10.8). The big sails will certainly demand respect. Is there a pitfall in this formula that will be problem.

Re: Wasa Atlantic 51? 51' loa 10.8' beam across the Pacific?

The builders specs say she has a balsa cored hull and deck. I’d be wary of a balsa cored hull. This is a big boat with a decent rig so she will make fast passages. No mention of water or fuel tankage. You can install a watermaker but fuel tankage is very important.
Seems like a quality build and ideal for some. Dockage would be rather dear due to the LOA. May be more akin to a forty footer stretched to fifty feet. The trade off is speed over stowage and interior volume..

TY, I have not gotten a chance to travel over to look for my self. The relatively narrow beam at 10.8' is strange to me, I am very curious about that, A good survey with extra attention to the hull and deck is in order. Dockage as you pointed out, sails and rigging will be extra spendy. I do like the silhouette. Silly I know but how a boat looks makes her a lot easier for me to love.
