Transmission Cable holder

Ok, Don't laugh to much people but, Yes, Today My transmission cable got loose from the little holder clip and I was stuck in reverse..
Yes, no way to stop it but, I just started and cut the engine, then coasted in to the opposite dock. Really slow just a scratch and a couple lines to pull her back..
So, Where can I get a proper cable holder that will not come loose..

Again, please don't laugh to much lol.. it could of been way worse...

Tanks for your help..

Re: Transmission Cable holder

There are a million different kinds. It comes down to holding the end of the housing still. Bailing wire would work.

I thought of that but, the clip is mounted to the engine block and is about 1-1/2" and looks like it should work fine but it will not get any tighter to hold the cable sleeve.

I'm going to look for something that I know will not fail again..

Re: Transmission Cable holder

There are way too many types to point you directly without knowing exactly what cable you have. You could start here:

Teleflex Control Cable Connection Kits

Telflex Clamp & Shim Connection Kit

Teleflex Bracket

Might at least help you figure out which type of clamp you need. Then there's the question of what brand, etc.

When we've had these fail we just ended up using a stainless u-bolt with nylon locking nuts.
