Le Comte north east 38

Does anyone have any experience with these as bluewater cruisers? There's one for sale, seems good on paper... Thanks.

No experience firsthand sailing, however I agree- beautiful boat and seems to be well built. Solid glass hull, great lines. All of the drawbacks and hinderances of a 60's designed boat of that size however. Where is the one you found?

South West France.. What are the drawbacks and hindrances in your opinion?

Mostly interior space- no aft cabin. Short waterline length. Not really drawbacks, just different than modern designs of a similar size.

Re: Le Comte north east 38

the MKII version is a Bermuda 40 lookalike. looks like they have deep drafts which could be a problem. the pilot berths behind the settee really restrict interior space. make sure it has a diesel. they have a lot of exterior teak maintenance

There is a member here who had one, and maybe still does. Check the Social Groups "Plastic Classics." I'll check, if I find him I'll post it. Beautiful boats. Like most CCA boats, they get more waterline when they heel... and they love to heel

Re: Le Comte north east 38

Looking at Sailboat Data it appears there is a good deal of difference between those built before '65 and those built after. Do you know the year of the one you are looking at?
