Wood or Al?

Are you rigging it yourself?

Congratulations.

Re: Got my new mast!

I decided to build it with old growth, VG Doug Fir.
I want to keep this boat as original as I can - kind of like an old antique car.
The wood is flawless, tight grain, no knots, no pitch pockets - 30' lengths - only one scarf joint - 24'' to 1''. We pickled the wood with ethylene glycol, glued it up with West, fastened with silicon bronze. Coated with 2 coats 105/207 West and I'm building up with McCloskie's spar varnish - 4-6 coats ought to do it.
NW Rigging is going to rig it - Navtech fittings.
I'm going to paint the top 3' white just for the hell of it.
I'm thinking on sage green trimmed in satin black for a hull color - maybe.

Re: Got my new mast!

Hollow, rectangle, rabbited front & back, re-enforced at spreaders, tapers from 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 to 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 at the mast head
pictures will be up in a few days - I'm too busy right now trying to get varnish on between rain squalls!
